Going, Going, Gone to Save Lives

CLASSIC CAR GARNERS $100,000 TO SAVE LIVES

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo., October 14, 2016……….. Thanks to the generosity of philanthropist and Grand Junction local Tammy Allen, Building Sanctuary | Rebuilding Lives, the campaign for Mind Springs Health and West Springs Hospital, was the beneficiary of 100% of the proceeds from the sale of her custom 1967 Chevrolet Nova Hardtop during the 9th Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction today.

With Allen explaining her connection to the help Mind Springs Health provides and President & CEO Sharon Raggio noting how the proceeds will impact Building Sanctuary | Rebuilding Lives’ goal of reducing suffering and providing psychiatric help to Coloradans in need, a fierce bidding war ended with the sleek automotive beauty raising an impressive $100,000 as well as awareness of the issues.

More than 80 vehicles from Tammy Allen’s unique and diverse collection are crossing the block as the centerpiece of the 3-day auction. The beautiful ’67 custom Nova auctioned Friday afternoon on behalf of Mind Springs Health and West Springs Hospital was totally restored in 2012 with a PPG Torch Red finish and custom build featuring an upgraded 4-bolt 355 turbo-hydramatic transmission with floor shifter and Cragar wheels.

Building Sanctuary | Rebuilding Lives tackles the current, critical problem of demand exceeding capacity at West Springs Hospital, the only psychiatric hospital between Denver and Salt Lake City, in envisioning expanded space and services in a larger, state-of-the-art facility. Allen’s generosity in donating the ’67 custom Nova, and that of the passionate bidders and buyer, mean that Building Sanctuary | Rebuilding Lives continues to build momentum and is that much closer to reality.

Mind Springs Health is the western slope’s largest provider of counseling and therapy for mental wellness. Mind Springs Health also assists individuals and families dealing with and recovering from substance abuse and addiction. Covering a 23,000-square mile area in Eagle, Garfield, Grand, Jackson, Mesa, Moffat, Pitkin, Rio Blanco, Routt and Summit counties, Mind Springs Health offers a full continuum of mental health care with 24/7/365 crisis response services, 13 offices for outpatient treatment, and West Springs Hospital, the only psychiatric hospital between Denver and Salt Lake City.
