Building Sanctuary | Rebuilding Lives Campaign Announced

Everyday people on the western slope and in mountain communities must distressingly wait for space to be treated at West Springs Hospital, the only psychiatric hospital between Denver and Salt Lake City. Yesterday, West Springs Hospital broke ground on a new facility that will enable twice as many people to receive treatment as can today.

West Springs Hospital Breaks Ground for Expansion

Building Sanctuary | Rebuilding Lives, the campaign to construct the new $34,000,000 facility was announced by Vail luminaries Rod and Beth Slifer who co-chair the campaign along with Alpine Bank Chairman Bob Young and Brian Davidson MD, President of St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction. The fundraising goal is $17,750,000, with $13,000,000 currently raised and an important $5,000,000 still to go.

“The new hospital is such an incredibly important breakthrough for the western slope of Colorado” said Beth Slifer. We’ve needed this for more years than the current facility has been here.” “We’re building it now because we can’t wait, the urgency is great and it literally will be lifesaving” noted Mind Springs Health/West Springs Hospital President & CEO Sharon Raggio.

Located in Grand Junction and already 3 years in the planning, the new patient-centric, state-of-the-art hospital will have special accomodations for children and adolescents, indoor and outdoor recreation areas and numerous appointments to enhance healing and recovery. Perhaps most importantly, it will be able treat twice as many people by doubling in size to 64 beds.
