Many people have attended CPR or First Aid classes given by the American Red Cross and gained the skills to help someone in a time of need. There is a certification course for mental health issues called Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) which can give you the tools to assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
The first ‘train the trainer’ event was held in Pitkin County earlier this year. 27 individuals graduated from a 3-day program held on Colorado Mountain College’s Aspen campus as certified trainers of Mental Health First Aid courses.
Thanks to the generosity of the Katz Amsterdam Charitable Trust and Foundation three additional ‘train the trainer’ courses are being offered on the Western Slope.
Eagle County Training: July 29-31 at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards
Breckenridge Training: August 12-16 at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge
Keystone Training: October 7-11 at Keystone Resort
